Lara Keuck

ALLEA Board Member | German Young Academy

Lara Keuck was elected into the ALLEA Board in May 2022. She is a historian and philosopher of medicine and heads an independent Max Planck Research Group on “Practices of Validation in the Biomedical Sciences” at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin. She studied Molecular Biomedicine at the University of Bonn. In 2012, she completed her PhD in History, Philosophy and Ethics of Medicine under the auspices of a German-French Doctoral Programme at the University of Mainz and the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Philosophy at Humboldt University (HU) Berlin, held a Branco Weiss Fellowship from ETH Zurich, and led a junior research group at the Department of History at HU Berlin.

Lara Keuck is a member of the German Young Academy (Die Junge Akademie) where she has co-founded a working group on “engaged science”. She is the first member of a Young Academy to be elected into ALLEA’s Board. Her aim is to further strengthen ALLEA’s relations with the European National Young Academies (ENYA), and to increase the inclusion of early- and mid-career researchers into science policy advice.
