All Things Considered: The Role of Expert Advice in Climate-Related Crises

EU Side Event COP27

In the frame of COP27 taking currently place in Egypt, the Science Advice Mechanism (SAM) of the European Commission is organising a session dedicated to the role of expert advice in climate-related crises. In light of the upcoming publications of the SAM on Strategic crisis management in the EU, where ALLEA coordinated the drafting of the SAPEA Evidence Review Report, this online discussion will explore the role of expert advice in strategic crisis management with a focus on climate change.

Adaptation is part of our response to climate change. The goal is to reduce our vulnerability to its harmful immediate effects, whether we consider rising sea levels, more frequent and intense extreme weather events or the long-term impact on food, water and energy security. To anticipate and manage the future crises induced by climate change, policymakers will continue to need expert advice. Join this session to learn more about expert advice in strategic crisis management.
